We are Kevin and
Linda Dahya, antique and collectable dealers.
Our shop Grange Antiques is located
in the small Tasmanian town of Latrobe in northern Tasmania and
we would describe the shop as eclectic, as we try to cater for
all hunters and collectors.
From bears, toys and pottery to chiffoniers and extension dining tables
our range is extensive and interesting. Our business also provides a
complete conservation and restoration service. We have
been collecting for over fifteen years and have always preferred the
older style in furnishings. When we married and needed to furnish our
home this was the obvious option. Our passion was born from the quality
and feel of antique furniture.
Although we admit that we took
an orbital sander to a painted duchess we had in the early days, we
believe that we have come a long way since then.
Linda enjoys collecting smalls, tapestries
and china items. She has a collection of Moorcroft and has interests in
miniature bible & prayer books as well as items of ladies interests.
Kevin likes to get his hands dirty restoring
and he has a love of colonial cedar and Blackwood furniture.
He has found his niche in life in the antique trade as he has
developed a love
and desire to
preserve, restore and obtain quality
pieces.
Our own collection has grown considerably,
and we really enjoy sharing our knowledge to help people to expand
their own collections.
We have a busy home with four
children, Lillian 11 Michael 8 Thomas 6 and Nicola 4. None of them want
to be involved in future aspects of antique dealing.
We have a qualified French polisher
- Ian Flewellen working with us.
With his extremely high standards of cabinetry
and joinery skills he provides an important facet to the business.
With over 35 years of experience he has worked
on projects commissioned by the Melbourne Museum, National Trust
Tasmania, the Port Arthur Historic site and prominent private
Tasmanian homes.
